GoldenChild Golf Charity is a voluntary organization fighting childhood cancer. It was founded and is run by Ronny Hermansen, also known as “Uncle Ronny”. GoldenChild Golf Charity was established when his nephew Patrick died from bone cancer in 2018, just 12 years old. GoldenChild is his gift to Patrick, and a tribute to all the children who lost the battle against cancer.

GoldenChild is a storyteller, providing insight and knowledge on how childhood cancer is different from “adult cancer” diagnoses.  It also promotes the Gold Ribbon – the international symbol for the battle against childhood cancer. In addition it is a fundraiser, and funds being raised under the GoldenChild Golf Charity name will be donated to childhood cancer research.

Cancer is the most common reason for early deaths for children between the age of 1 and 14. When children are diagnosed with cancer they are facing other types of cancers than adults get, and they are normally much more aggressive. 1 in 5 children never come through it alive. This terrible disease takes 100,000 children’s lives worldwide every year, 16,000 in the United States alone. That number has been stable over the last 15-20 years, and will not change that until we make major breakthroughs in childhood cancer research. Let GoldenChild Golf be us golfers’ united effort to make that change.
